Ai Weiwei - Zodiac

On this Chinese New Year's eve, I spent part of my day photographing Ai Weiwei's Circle of Animals/Zodiac Heads at LACMA.  Just another Sunday in this SoCal gal's life. Enjoy.

An open letter to Paul Banks

Hey Paul.

How are things? Do you still live in New York? I'm only asking because I will be visiting there in May and am going to do everything in my power to run into you.  I promise I won't knock you down, but if I do, I'll join you on the ground.  We can make invisible snow angels.  Or we can just lie there. It's completely up to you.  We can go for a nice cup of coffee if you'd like, where I'd let you count the freckles on my face if you'd let me count yours, which I imagine would take quite a while.  Just so you know, I will probably lose count, multiple times.  Faces like yours make my brain stop working the way it should.

I sure hope you're not still gallivanting around with that supermodel from the Chris Isaak video.  Her legs are unnaturally long and frightening to me.  Should she make an appearance, I'll take you by the hand and we'll make a run for it.  Knowing her and those long legs, she'll catch up pretty quickly.  Either way, I will be content with any time we are able to spend in each other's lives, no matter how minute.

I hope you are well Paul.  I would like nothing more than to have a simple conversation with you...and have you stand for a few photographs too.  Look for me in May.  I will be the girl with the big eyes and brown hair, Nikon, and two sisters with smiles on their faces that refuse to quit.  There may also be a kite in there somewhere.  Be kind, and remember that I am, and will continue to be, one of your most loyal admirers.

With much anticipation and devotion,
Michelle

Fabulous Friday - Twin Peaks

I am about to begin watching season two on this cold, soon-to-be rainy weekend.  In my pajamas.  With my cat.  What little bit of sunshine we are scheduled to receive on Sunday will allow me to leave my fort...only to drop off this Netflix disc...in anticipation of the next.  Agent Cooper and a damn fine cup of coffee...this will be the best weekend of the new year so far.

P.S.
Happy Birthday to David Lynch.

Erik Satie

This has been my personal soundtrack for the last few months now.  I hope you love it as much as I have.

Christmas Time Crafts

I love ribbon...and I love Michael's for having it on sale!
-M.

Use wired ribbon, and cut into 20 inch strips

fold into figure-eight shape and staple the ends together

place each piece on top of each other, rotating each new piece to ensure a circular pattern

as you get closer to the center, use 10 inch strips and sew all pieces together

sit back and admire your work

William Blake

The marriage of art and poetry is a tough one to keep in harmony, and like any marriage, when the two fit together, they make for wonderful moments of genius.
